For Shorebirds is a personal conservation education initiative operated by Borys Daniljchenko, Environmental Educator (Retired), Moreton Bay, Queensland. This page explains what personal information is collected, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it.

The short version: If you register your interest, we collect your name and email to keep you informed about the program. Nothing is sold, shared with third parties, or used for anything other than program communications. You can be removed at any time.

What information is collected

When you submit the Register Interest form, you provide:

Name and email address — required, used to contact you about the program
Background or role — optional, helps us understand who the program is reaching
Location — optional, used to match you with a delivery partner and field site
What draws you to the program — optional, helps us understand how people find the program
Organisation — optional, for group or institutional registrations

No payment information, identification documents, or sensitive personal data are collected at any point.

How it is used

Your information is used only to:

Acknowledge your registration and keep you informed as planning progresses
Send your first cohort invitation when the program opens (Late July / August 2026 target)
Issue your Steward portal credentials when you enrol
Contact you about your field experience placement with a delivery partner

Your details are not used for marketing unrelated to the Shorebird Steward Program, not shared with third parties, and not sold.

Where data is stored

Registration forms are processed and stored by Netlify, the hosting platform for this site. Netlify's privacy policy covers their handling of form data. Borys receives these by email and keeps them for program communications only.

Cookies and tracking

This site does not use advertising cookies, analytics tracking, or third-party tracking scripts. The only browser storage used is a local authentication token (in your browser's localStorage) that records whether you have entered the Steward portal password. This token is held locally on your device and is not transmitted to any server.

Your rights

You may at any time:

Request to see what information is held about you
Ask for your information to be corrected or updated
Ask to be removed from program communications entirely
