The Roost Decision Tool guides a Shorebird Steward through a structured assessment of a roost site before, during, or after an event or management action. It integrates live environmental data with a multi-factor scoring algorithm to produce a compliance summary card — a defensible, printable record of the decision made.
Community environmental groups are largely generalist environmental managers. The tool provides the ecological expertise that a trained Steward brings to that group — in a structured, replicable, audit-ready format.
The Roost Decision Tool serves a dual function that is central to the CWB framework: it is simultaneously an operational field instrument and a Shorebird Steward training instrument.
